Effect of some insecticides and biorationals on foliage pests of soybean

Field experiments were conducted during Kharif season of the year 2009 and 2010 to know the efficacy of some insecticides and biorationals against foliage pests of soybean at the Department of Entomology, Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani (Maharashtra, India). The experiment comprised of 13 different insecticides and biorationals treatments replicated thrice including untreated control. Data in respect of population of insect pests and their predators on soybean were recorded on 3, 7 and 14, days after first spraying (DAS) and second spraying during Kharif 2009 and 2010. The result based on pooled data of two years revealed that significantly minimum incidence of semilooper was observed in rynaxypyr 20 SC 30 g a.i/ha [2.45 larvae/meter row length (MRL)], which was found at par with emamectin benzoate 5 SG 11 g a.i/ha (3.22 larvae/MRL) in respect of semilooper, Spodoptera litura. Significantly minimum per cent defoliation was recorded in rynaxypyr 20 SC 30 g a.i/ha (15.8%) followed by emamectin benzoate 5 SG 11 g a.i/ha (17.3%), spinosad 45 SC 100 g a.i/ha (18.0%) and indoxacarb 14.5 SC 75 g a.i/ha (18.7%), which were found at par with each other.
