Geographic susceptibility study of newer insecticides to Indian populations of Leucinodes orbonalis

The susceptibility of Indian populations of Leucinodes orbonalis, to newer insecticides was studied in laboratory conditions. Fruits infested with L. orbonalis were collected from 12 major brinjal growing regions of India and bioassays were done using five insecticides viz., chlorantraniliprole, flubendiamide, chlorfenapyr, indoxacarb and spinosad; as topical applications. The bioassay data were used to estimate LD50 and LD95 values for different populations and fold variability at the LD50 level were estimated among the populations.The LD50 values of newer insecticides viz., chlorantraniliprole, flubendiamide, chlorfenapyr, indoxacarb and spinosad were observed between 0.480-1.240, 0.751-2.626, 4.140-11.780, 4.300-9.610 and 4.530-15.190 μg/larva and fold variabilityvamong the population was 2.58, 3.50, 2.85, 2.23 and 3.35 fold, respectively. The susceptibility response of thesevpopulations can be considered as baseline information and can be used in insecticide resistance monitoring program.
