A study was conducted to determine the influence of the types of fertilizer used for growing Dwarft Napier ( Pennisetum purpuruem cv. Mott) on the quality of the ensiled product of the grass. The fertilizers were either sheep manure (organic), urea (inorganic) and a mixture of sheep manure and urea. The organic manure gave better quality of silage in terms of organic acid content where it had the highest level of butyric and propionic acids. This also contributed to the aerobic stability of the silage as shown by the pH and absence of mould formation after aerobic exposure.
