Research on training process of operating high performance forestry machines
2005
Yamada, Y. (Nagoya Univ. Graduate School of Bio-agricultural Sciences))
High performance forestry machines have dramatically changed forestry works to become more efficient and safe. However these advantages depend on operator s skill. Novices at operating are apt to make inefficient work and damage the surrounding forest environment. In order to make clear the training process, we performed a classifying and piling test by a processor for 20 operators who have operating experiences from one to five years. It was found that processing time (seconds/log) decreased exponentially with increasing experience. The decreasing trend was mainly brought about by grasping and releasing time. Moreover, in pivoting operation, experienced operators moved the processor head into suitable position to smoothly continue with the next working operation by simultaneous operations of both manipulators.
