The effect of Azospirillum UPMB10 inoculation treated with boron on growth, root tissue phenolics and soluble nitrogen content were investigated. The banana plantlets were supplemented with MS solution consisting of boron in the form of boric acid (1 uM and 10uM) and Azospirillum UPMB10 (10x10 7-10x10 8 cfu/ml). MS solution containing only boric acid was used as control. Banana plantlets treated with MS solution containing Azospirillum UPMB10 showed an increase in growth and fresh of root by up to 100% in both 1uM and 10 uM treatments compared to the control. Similar results were observed in the total length of roots treated with 1uM boron; however there was no significant different in root length of 10uM boron treatment compared to the control. MS solution with IuM boron and containing Azospirillum UPMBI0 also resulted in increased soluble nitrogen content by 43%, however, it decreased up to 68% in 10uM boron treatment. The amount of phenolics in boron-treated supplying with Azospirillum UPMB10 was significantly higher by 64% and 23% in 1uM and 10uM boron, respectively
