The aim of this study was to investigate the total contents of different phenoliccompounds of the aerial part and root methanol extracts of Pulmonaria officinalisL., as well as to evaluate their protective activity against DNA damage induced byhydroxyl and peroxyl radicals using two in vitro tests. The extracts were rich intotal phenolic compounds and the rosmarinic acid was confirmed as the dominantcompound in both extracts by HPLC analysis. The extracts showed an effectivereduction of DNA damage induced by hydroxyl and peroxyl radicals, with nosignificant change in the protective effect by increasing the concentration of theextracts.
