Genetic variation in livestock breeds is required for breeding studies, meeting thecurrent and future production levels and for adaptation to different environmentalconditions. The aim of this study is to determine the genetic diversity by based on 10microsatellite loci in the Turkish native Honamlı goats raised in Antalya province. All theloci were polymorphic in the study, the number of alleles ranged from 4 (INRA063) to 12(SRCRSP05 and SRCRSP09) and number of effective alleles varied from 2.82 (INRA063)to 9.45 (TCRVB6). The observed heterozygosity ranged from 0.50 (INRA063 and ETH10)to 0.91 (SRCRSP07), while expected heterozygosity varied between 0.66 (INRA063) and0.89 (SRCRSP05). The PIC values estimated for loci ranged from 0.58 (INRA063) to 0.88(TCRVB6) in this study. Inbreeding coefficient (Fis) ranged from -0.07 (SRCRSP07) to0.27 (TCRVB6) with mean of 0.15. The results of this study point of high level geneticdiversity and heterozygosity with low level of inbreeding in Honamlı goat breed.
