Nutrient content measurement for some of the Algae in Van basin

The purpose of this study was to classify algae species present in Van Lake basin and to analyse their nutrient content. Samples were collected from 10 different locations, such as lakes, rivers and reed beds of which have different characteristic. All these locations were located in Van Lake basin and they are; Çaldıran Plain Wetlands, Çatak White Water River, Gevaş Cornering Delta, Ercek Lake Wetland, Marshes of Ercis Çelebibağı, Gevaş Seemed Wetlands, Çaldıran Goose Creek Lake (Dirty), Çaldıran Goose Creek Lake (Clean), Muradiye Falls, Turna Lake. Samples were collected in three different time points; in May, June and September. Collected samples were analysed for both species classification and for their nutrient contents. In this study, we have identified Spirogyra spp., Microspora spp. and some mixed Diatom groups (Nitzschia spp. taxons), Cladophora fracta, Ulothrix zonata, Cladophora glomerata, Hydrodictyon reticulatum, Mougetia sp. and Zygnema spp. in the selected locations. The lowest and the highest values for the nutrient content of dry weight (DW), crude protein (CP), crude oil (CO), crude cellulose (CC), crude ash (CA) and substances without nitrogen (SWN) are 93.20-99.36%, 3.10-20.27%, 0.04-1.03%, 3.77-28.95%, 29.20-87.76%, 3.59-38.82%, respectively. The lowest and the highest values for the calcium (Ca), phosphor (P), nitrogen (N), potassium (K), sodium (Na), magnesium (Mg), iron (Fe), mangan (Mn), cupper (Cu) and zink (Zn) amount of samples are 7290.00-194933.333mg/kg, 53.33-4308.67 mg/kg, 0.42-3.24 %, 1279.63-23335.67 mg/kg, 730.53-19726.67 mg/kg, 3568.00-5889.33 mg/kg, 356.92-5257.33 mg/kg, 48.47-1618.03 mg/kg, 1.58-8.71 mg/kg, 3.80-758.87 mg/kg, respectively.
