Tosun, B.
The present research was conducted within Research Farms of Süleyman Demirel University at 2012. The aim of the study was to investigate effects of different harvest time (140th, 155th, 170th, 1185th and 200th days after germination) on root, sugar yield and sugar content of different sugar beet varieties. Monogerm varieties Begonia, Aranka and Esperanza (N type), Sandrina and Esperia (NZ type), Felicita and Agnessa (Z type) were used in field investigations. Following parameters were found to be statistically significant; root length, root diameter, variety and harvest time, yield (kg/da), leaf yield per decar (kg/da), biological yield, polar sugar rate, polar sugar yield, amount of alpha amino nitrogen, variety, harvest time, variety and harvest time interaction. According to the research findings; root length ranged between (18,8-26,7 cm), root diameter (99-133 mm), leaf yield (1075-4291 kg/da), root yield (6061-10138 kg/da), biological yield (9105-12561 kg/da), polar sugar content (17,53-23,05%), polar sugar yield (1124-1915 kg/da), alpha amino nitrogen content (2,02-9,07 mmol/100g). It was concluded from this study that Esperia, Esperanza, Sandrina and Aranka varieties showed better yields than Begonia which is commonly grown in Isparta region for root yield and sugar content.
