Tbilisi. – 17-18 September. – 2020. – pp. 23-26. – geo.; abs.: geo., eng.Soil fertility is declining in a number of regions of Georgia, the main cause of which is water erosion, which is due to environmental climatic factors and improper irrigation measures. Water erosion ultimately leads to the disturbance of the ecological balance of the environment; as a result of its direct impact, agriculture suffers significant damage. This loss has increased significantly in recent years, but the implementation of correct measures against water erosion in various regions has led to the maintenance of crop yields. Measures to be taken to reduce the area of erosion and the intensity of ongoing processes are presented, which will ultimately lead to the maintenance of the humus layer of agricultural lands and the ecological balance of the environment.
