Biological types of pollination and orange - Citrus sinensis (L.) Osb. - fertilization.
2021
The paper describes the biological types and issues of pollination related to the nature of fertilization of orange (Citrus Sinensis (L.) Osb.). The experiment revealed a number of features, the knowledge of which of of practical and theoretical value. In particular, parthenocarpy and cross-pollination are equally characteristic of Washington Navel. During the latter, seeds are formed in the fruit. Local (ordinary) oranges are characterized by self and cross-pollination, as well as parthenocarpy. Fruit formation during parthenocarpy is low. The fruits are thin, seedless. This type of pollination is economically negative. Such a case is rare in nature and its probability is low. Tab. 1, Ref. 5.
