Foliar application of inorganic fertilizers, and kinetin at post-reproductive stage in hybrid rice (Oryza sativa L.)
2016
Ventura, C.E.
A field experiment was conducted in Los Baños, Laguna [Philippines] during the 2016 dry season (February-May) to determine the growth and yield response of selected hybrid rice in response to foliar applications of inorganic and organic fertilizers, and kinetin applied at post-reproductive stage. Four foliar treatments (no foliar, CropGiant, Agri-Marine, and kinetin), and five rice varieties (M19, M20, M55 (PRUP10, and PSB Rc82) sere evaluated. Among foliar treatments, Agri-Marine significantly had the highest percent increment in panicle weight ration resulted to relatively higher harvest index and yield. Varietal response to foliar fertilization was observed in PRU10 having the lowest reduction in chlorophyll content while M55 the highest reduction inspite of foliar fertilization. the M20 initially had the highest leaf area index and relatively higher reduction in net assimilation rate, leaf area, index, stem weight ratio, but significantly highest increment in panic weight ratio resulted to higher grain yield. Moreover, foliar application did not affect the degree of grain filling of hybrid rice; but, pRU10 had the heaviest grain weight. Experiment shows that foliar fertilization have no significant effect on growth, and yield of hybrid rice, however, M20 and PRU10 showed good response to foliar application and Agri-Marine showed potential in increasing the yield of hybrid rice.
