Seagrass Posidonia oceanica is widespread in the Mediterranean Sea and is used to assess the ecological status of coastal ecosystems under the EU Water Framework Directive. The situation in the surveyed areas is moderate and poor according to the density of settlements and the lower limit, and very good according to the Conservation Index. Considering that the vast majority of monitoring protocols are based on the situation outside the Adriatic Sea, where the environmental conditions are different and therefore the posidonia meadows as well, this data will be used as a zero state in future monitoring.
