Edible oil samples of following nutseeds: almond - Prunus amygdalus (A), hazelnut - Corylus avellana (H1 and H2)and walnut - Juglans regia (W1 and W2) were produced by cold pressing. The obtained oil samples were derivatizedwith 0.2 M trimethylsulfonium hydroxide solution (TMSH) in methanol and analyzed on a gas chromatograph. Elutingmethyl esters of the dominant fatty acids were detected and identified using a mass spectrometer with NIST14 massspectra library. The integrated surface areas of methyl esters of detected fatty acids were used in multivariate dataanalysis - cluster analysis and correspondence analysis. The obtained diagrams indicate the possibility of a successfulapplication of a gas chromatography - mass spectrometry (GC-MS) system, combined with multivariate data analysistools, with the aim of distinguishing cold-pressed oils of various types of nutseeds, according to the botanical species.
