Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is one of the five most abundant oilseeds in the world. In Serbia, sunflower is the mostcommonly used raw material for edible vegetable oil production. For years, sunflower breeding has been done in the direction of increasing oil yield, and sunflower hybrids with over 60% of oil in seeds have been created. However, in recent years, sunflower breeding has very often been aimed at increasing the protein content of seeds, which have been found to have highnutritional value. Such sunflower hybrids have a reduced but still significant oil content (up to 30%). The aim of this study wasto examine the parameters of oil yield during cold pressing of seeds of oily and confectionary sunflower hybrids. The oil yieldof the confectionary hybrids averaged 27.16±2.89 %, while the oil yield of the oily hybrids was as high as 70.67±2.05%. Theobtained results confirmed a significantly lower yield of confectionary compared to the oily hybrids, however, it was provedthat the pressing of confectionary hybrid seeds is still possible and significant amounts of oil are obtained.
