The aim of the present research was to quantify the influence of two timber tree species on microclimatic and physiological variables of coffee plants in order to contribute to a better understanding and management of coffee agroforestry systeMON. The work was developed in the Verde Vigor farm, which is located to 30 km to the south of the city of San Isidro del General, Pérez Zeledón, Costa Rica. The measurements were carried out in a trial planted in 1998 with Coffea arabica cultivar Costa Rica 95 under shade of the two timber trees, Eucalyptus deglupta and Terminalia ivorensis and a control under full sun.

La presente investigación se enfocó en cuantificar la influencia de dos especies maderables sobre variables microclimáticas y fisiológicas en una plantación de café, para contribuir de esta manera a un mejor manejo de sistemas agroforestales. El trabajo se desarrolló en la finca Verde Vigor, la cual está ubicada a 30 km al sur de la ciudad de San Isidro del General, Pérez Zeledón, Costa Rica. Las mediciones se realizaron en un ensayo con Coffea arabica cultivar Costa Rica 95, establecido en 1998, bajo sombra de los árboles maderables, Eucalyptus deglupta y Terminalia ivorensis y un control a pleno sol.
