Sustainability evaluation of community forest management for identifying investment priorities in Mexican ejidos | Evaluación de la sustentabilidad del manejo forestal comunitario para identificar prioridades de inversión en ejidos de México

En este trabajo se elaboró un estándar de principios, criterios e indicadores para evaluar la sustentabilidad del manejo forestal comunitario y se aplicó en 16 unidades de manejo forestal de Guerrero, México. Se encontró que el manejo del bosque está determinado por factores como distribución de responsabilidades en la empresa forestal, la presencia de control contable y registros, la aplicación de reinversiones y la presencia de mecanismos de seguridad social. La tipología encontrada no obedece únicamente al grado de encadenamiento de la Producción, sino también a aspectos de tipo social y administrativo; la tipología no permitió diferenciar debilidades específicas por grupos, pero podría ayudar a diferenciar la forma de aplicar las inversiones.

In this study a standard of principles, criteria, and indicators was made to evaluate the sustainability of community forest management and were applied in 16 forest management units in Guerrero, Mexico. It was found that forest management is determined by factors such as distribution of responsibilities in the forestry enterprise, use of accounting and registers, reinvestments, and social security mechanisMON. The typology found did not only correspond to the degree of the production chain, but also to social and administrative aspects; the typology did not differentiate specific weaknesses for groups, but it could help to differentiate the way investments are used.
