Dedeoglu, M.
In this study was performed detailed soil survey and mapping in area of about 5,140 ha Konya - Sarayönü Beşgözlerler K.O.P. lands and 1 : 10.000 scale soil map was produced in GIS environment and land evaluation was carried out using Stori Index (SI), FAO Soil Productivity Index (SPI), Complex Square Land Quality Index (CI), Productivity Index (PI), Irrigation Ability Index (SII) and Şenol Land Evaluation Method. As a result of the detailed soil, 79 different mapping units in 6 different series of the study area. These soil series were classified according to the Soil Taxonomy and FAO soil classification systems by taking into consdration of the morphological characteristics of the soils and the results of laboratory analyzes. In order level, soils were classified Entisols and Aridisol acording to Soil Taxonomy while they were also classified as Fluvisol, Calcisol, Cambisol and Regosol based on FAO System. According to the results of suitability classifications with different land evaluation methods were determined that PI : 765 ha, SI : 39 ha, KoK : 30 ha, SADY : 3576 ha, AKK : 2150 ha for Class I (S1) elite agricultural land, PI : 4206 ha, SI : 4889 ha, KoK : 4217 ha, 4186 ha , SADY : 1044 ha , AKK : 1882 ha for Class II (S2-S3) good and medium quality agricultural land. Low quality and unsuitable agricultural lands were found by SPI : 948 ha, KoK : 887 ha, SI : 208 ha, PI : 164 ha, SADY : 514 ha, AKK : 1103 ha. In addition, the suitability distributions of the irrigated agriculture determined by the SYI model which it shown; S1: 1659 ha, S2-S3: 2684 ha and N1-N2: 792 ha. Spatial distribution ratios of suitability classes have been specified for wheat (wet and dry), barley (wet and dry), corn, sugar beet, bean and sunflower plants which are commonly cultivated in the study area. The result of evaluations, the most suitable plants for cultivating have been determined that the most suitable plants for end point; Wheat in irrigated conditions: 3383,77 ha, wheat in dry conditions 1977,25 ha, barley in irrigated conditions: 2639,41 ha, dry conditions barley: 3222, 62 ha and sugar beet: 166,87 ha. Finally, the most suitable and reliable model for the region is the SPI method. Also, It has been determined that using the SYI model in relation with the SPI evaluation method in the areas which will be used to irrigated farming will be the most appropriate approach for determining the productivity potentials of the land.
