Determination of Some Physical Traits and Nutrient Components in Oat (Avena sativa spp.)

This study was carried out to determine some physical properties and nutrient components of 26 line + 3 standard varieties (Çekota, Faikbey and Seydişehir) in oat yield trial in Konya location under rainfed conditions. Moisture, thousand kernel weight, test weight, husk rate, crude protein, ether extract, crude fiber, ADF, NDF and beta glucan analysis were made. Means of traits of the examined oat genotypes: Moisture 9.3%, husk rate 27.1%, thousand kernel weight 28.6 g, hectoliter weight 44.6 kg, crude protein 12.6%, crude oil 5.8%, crude cellulose 12.9%, ADF 15.6%, NDF 41.3% and beta glucan 1.9% (P<0.01).
