Multilocation screening for rice varietal traits relevant to deepwater culture

The International Rice Deep Water Observational Nursery (IRDWON) was initiated in 1976 by the International Rice Testing Program (IRTP). IRDWON tests in various countries during 1976-80 led to identification of some promising breeding lines with traits important for survival and productivity in deep water fields of various water depths. Basing on 5 years of experience, IRDWON was reorganized in 1981. Details of those changes are outlined. Responses to a survey of the use of IRDWON entries by different countries are summarized
