Chemical ripening of sugarcane with glyphosate ripeners [study conducted in the Philippines]
1982
Gonzales, M.Y. | Tianco, A.P.
Two glyphosate ripeners at 0.22, 0.67 and 1.12 kg a.i./ha were evaluated together with Polaris at 6 and 12 kg commercial product/ha using a plant crop of Phil 56226 sprayed eight weeks before harvest. The trial was laid out in an RCB design with three replications and a plot size of 4 rows x 8 m. Polaris at the two rates used had no significant effect on rendement. In general, the cane tonnage of treated plots that gave good response was lower by about 5% compared to the control, though this was not significant under the conditions of the experiment. Average cane tonnage of the ratoon of plots treated with glyphosate in the plant crop was lower by about 12% compared to the control which difference was no significant under the conditions of the experiment
