Inheritance of resistance to green rice leafhopper (Nephotettix cincticeps Uhler) and dwarf virus [Japan; Rice]
1983
Kobayashi, A.
To test the resistance to rice dwarf disease, 7-day old seedlings were inoculated with infectious leafhoppers and the percentage of diseased plants was observed. Resistance to green rice leafhopper was found to be controlled by a single dominant gene in Kanto PL 3, 77-2059, selections from a cross between Pe-bi-hun and Japanese varieties and IR 24, though in the varieties Pe-bi-hun, Te-tep. Hachijuushisen, Chiem-chank, Doujinkyou and Tadukan, resistance was controlled by two dominant genes. The resistance gene in IR 24 was allelic to one of the two resistance genes in Pe-bi-hun. Resistance to rice dwarf disease was controlled by a single dominant gene in Kanto PL 3 and 77-2059 and by two dominant genes in Te-tep and Hachijuushisen. Resistance to green rice leafhopper and to rice dwarf disease was controlled by the same gene in Kanto in Kanto PL 3 and 77-2059
