Soybean improvement through induced mutations
1986
Rajput, M.A. | Siddiqui, K.A.
Gamma-irradiation was used to induce mutations for improved yield and yield components along with high oil content in 3 cultivars, e.g. Columbus, T-15 and Loppa, of soybean Glycine max (L.) Merrill. In the M(2) generation 98 putative mutants were isolated during 1982. In the M(3) generation, 16 mutants, 1 for short stature, 3 for shattering resistance, 5 for heavy bearing, 2 for long pod and 5 for high yield, bred true. The paper describes the results and discusses their significance in the context of soybean improvement.
