Ashrafuzzaman, H.
During the years 1982-1985 experiments were conducted to determine (1) suitable methods of inoculation for mass screening of rice against bacterial blight and stem rot diseases; (2) the effective chemicals for controling bacterial blight; and (3) the varietal resistance to diseases. A number of rice field weeds were found to be attacked by stem rot pathogen. In all 1052 lines were screened against some diseases. Through repeated tests a number of lines were found to be moderately resistant to bacterial blight and sheath blight BAU-63: BKN BC 31 754 (PN 16 SIGADIS/RD9) and IR 156-228-3-3, IR 747 BZ-6-3/ 579-84 were tolerant to bacterial blight, sheath blight and sheath rot diseases. Some lines such as, IR 2061-465-1-5-5; BG 90-2 (PETA/3 KN 1) IR 2070-245-3-4 were tolerant to bacterial blight and sheath rot. BR 10 (BR-064051-46.5) IR-20/IR 5-114-31 were resistant to bacterial bli
