Effect of harvest time, drying period and rotary velocity of thresher on germination percent and field emergence in barley

As a basic study of barley for seed germination and emergence after harvest, Olbori was harvested at 30, 35 and 40 days after heading. Plants harvested were dried under natural sun light for one, two and three days, respectively, and were threshed at different revolution per minute (rpm) of thresher. Grain moisture content at the 30, 35 and 40 days after heading were 52.18, 43.34 and 29.57 %. In order for Olbori to get more than 95 % germinations, it needs to thresh as 500 rpm thresher after 2 days dry and as 600 rpm thresher after 3 days at 35 days after heading.
