The study was carried out to find optimum soil condition and soil improvement measures for gingers cultivation by analyzing relationship between morphology, physico-chemical characteristics of soil and ginger yield in Naju, Wanju, Seocheon and Seosan area famed for chief producing district of ginger. Ginger yield was high in alluvial plain, fine sandy loam, moderately well drainage and available soil depth of more than 100cm, and yield of ginger showed negative correlation with slope and subsoil hardness and did posit1319ive correlation with plow depth and soil moisture. Ginger yield was high in the level of pH 6.0, available phosphorus 405 ppm, calcium 9.5 me/100g, magnesium 2.7 me/100g, potassium 1.3 me/100g, and a positive correlation was obtained between organic matter content of the soil and ginger
