Since Tongil sister lines were introduced into farmer's field, race pattern of P. oryza was diversified. Therefore the Korean differential set modified with the inefficiency of Japanese old differential set was proposed. Based on the reactions of all commercial and local varieties and elite lines to representative isolates, eight differential varieties such as Tetep, Taebaegbyeo, Tongil, Yushin, Kanto 51, Nongbaeg, Jinheung and Nagdongbyeo were selected as a Korean differential set. In order to systematize the name of race classification of P. oryzae two race groups such as KJ (Korean plus Japonic) and KI (Korean plus Indica) were given as initial capital letters on the basis of which group of varieties0981was first infected in terms of order of differential varieties. The number of race will be followed by proper number computer from possible combination of eight differential variet
