Natural control is defined as "the process of dynamic equilibrium which maintains the characteristic mean density of a wild population within particular upper and lower limits over a period of time, by a complex combination of all the additive, conditioning, and subtractive processes impinging upon that wild population". Biological control is a cornerstone of IPM [Integrated Pest Management]. There are over 1000 species of natural enemies (predators, parasites and entomopathogens) in rice in the Philippines. The long history of rice cultivation (for many years without insecticides) has allowed these indigenous biocontrol agents to evolve into the major controlling force against insect pests o1046f rice. Indescriminant use of insecticides can destroy these valuable resources. Therefore, pest control programs has to be developed which should include conservation of these biocontrol agents via judicious use of insectici
