This study examines the current state of irrigation water conservation knowledge, and practices of farmers in rural areas of Al-Qassim region, agricultural practices. As assessment is made of the extent to which the population is being reached by extension programmers and whether these have made the population aware of water conservation methods. The level response to water conservation is also determined. To achieve the study objectives, a sample of 113 farmers was randomly selected from 12 villages in six major areas in Al-Qassim region. The findings of the study indicate that despite the fact that communication programmes on the rational usage of irrigation water have been successful in reaching the majority of farmers in the samples and made them aware of water conservation practices, precise control of water application by using irrigation systems that deliver water at minimum losses such as drip irrigation, modern agricultural practices as greenhouses and other applications that make use of water resources in the most efficient manner are still practiced by a small number of farmers in the sample. The explanation for the reported low rate practice does not lie in the knowledge of water irrigation amomg farmers but it lies in the technical and socio-economic aspects of individuals and their communities. Consequently, for a better water resources management and administration in the region should depend on research findings addressing this issue
