A high factor of efficiency for subterraneous deferrization and demanganization can be achieved in aquifers of sand with fine and coarse grain, in which the grain itself should have a non-spherical shape. The soil should have a high lime content and a low oxygen depletion. The factor of efficiency increases with increasing pH-values and decreasing ferrum and manganese content, it drops with higher spec. electric conductivity. A sufficiently high acid capacity in the soil is of advantage. Soils with a large pore volume ensure a long term operation of the production wells.
