Three oribatid mites, viz., Scheloribates. zaheri (Oribatulidae), Oppia sticta (Oriidae) and Javacarus gossipi (Lohmanniidae), were found in soil samples collected from untreated cotton plants at El-Kaliobia Governorate; the first species was the most common. During the early season, number of oribatid of oribatid mites decreased, then started to increase in the course of the growing season where it reached its peak in August. At the end of the cotton season, population of Cryptostigmata decreased again.
