Nitrogen fertilization affects vegetative growth, dry matter content and plant chemical composition of three pea cultivars. Nitrogen was applied as ammonium sulphate rates of 0, 15, 30 and 45 kg N/feddan pea cultivars used were Little Marvel, Progress No.9 and Meteor. The result showed that the varieties were widely different in all traits, i.e. stem length, number of branches and leaves per plant dry matter, N, P, K concentrations in different plant and photosynthetic pigmentations. Meteor variety was the vigorous one in all respects, except in potassium, followed by Little Marvel and Progress No. 9.
