[Report of the Regional Bean Program for the Andean Zone]

Background information on the Regional Bean Program for the Andean Zone (PROFRIZA) are given and detailed information is included on the workshop of participative planning through objectives, problem analysis and analysis of groups involved in the program, and planning of BPAR's 2nd phase. Information on the 11 regional subprojects is also included: (1) small-scale seed production, (2) technology generation and transfer for harvest and postharvest management, (3) participative research in expt. design and application, (4) integrated control of anthracnose and Ascochyta, (5) intercropping systems, (6) methodologies to minimize losses due to root rots, (7) evaluation and dissemination of pest control strategies, (8) bean-Rhizobium symbiosis, (9) consumption promotion, (10) hillside conservation, and (11) commercialization strategies
