In preliminary and advanced yield trials, in adoption trials and in international nurseries 191 varieties were tested in the lowlands during the dry season. 119 varieties yielded more than 500 kg/ha and 3 varieties produced more than 1000 kg/ha (G 13671 and AND 663 from PRELAAC-3; 4424 from IBYAN). Under conditions of natural infection, reaction to bacterial wilt, the main disease during the dry season, was resistant to intermediate.
