Utility parameters of the Japanese quails were observed after using atrazine and MCPA. The highest levels of herbicides in the feed 500 mg/kg influenced negatively reproduction, e.g. egg number and the weight of egg-shell, blood characteristics (haemoglobine, erythrocytes) and increased the weight of spleen. Toxicity was caused by impurity. The herbicide had no negative influence on the value of vitamin A in the liver. The residues of atrazine both in liver and muscles of Japanese quails were 1,000-10,000 times lower than the standard. The risk of contamination of the food chain from poultry to man is minimal
