[Will there be an interest in bioproducts in Slovakia?]
1992
Adamovic, J.
Unfavourable development in the population health status and shortening of life expectancy were one of the reasons for nutrition and subsidies policy re-evaluation within the agricultural sector of the Slovak Republic (SR). The objective is to improve the environment conditions and to enhance the biological and health value of domestic foodstuffs. In accordance to this process the Ministry of Agriculture of SR in 1991 provided farms producing bioproducts with subsidies determined to lessen financial losses due to lower yields resulting from reduced farming intensity. In 1992 there were 36 farms in Slovakia using organic farming methods on over 15 thousand hectares. Organic farming projects were worked out for all farms interested on condition that they must meet IFOAM requirements particularly in crop rotation, in heavy metals content in soil and organic fertilizers. Producers must declare the quality of their final products with a special certificate released by the Certificate Commission.
