Using the rectal palpation in sows and its indications

This method would be used by veterinary pig practitioner with some differences from the method in cattle because of some limitations. Nevertheless, for small-hand veterinarian, the method would help to obtain informations for the diagnosis of some problems in reproductive system and routine examination in the farm. It had been helpful in searching for the causes of silent heat, metritis diagnosis, some stage of fetal reabsorbtion , pregnancy diagnosis and for checking the ovary and its disorder such as cystic follicular and atrophy of both ovaries.
