[Evaluation of economic thresholds and insecticides on the control of Thrips tabaci (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) in onion]

The present consisted of two field studies on the management of Thrips tabaci in onions. The first one dealt with the effect of Thrips tabaci in onions. The first one dealt with the effect of levels of crop infestation with thrips, and the second one, with the evaluation of efficiency of control by four most recommended insecticides, profenofos + cypermethrin, cartap, monocrotophos and endosulfan. It can be concluded that the four evaluated products were able to significantly reduce Thrips tabaci population in onions, whilst the moderate infestation levels were not able to affect the yield of the onion group
