The dispersal and adhesion of the conidia of Pyricularia oryzae were studied quantitatively in epidemic regions and in laboratory simulations. Mathematical expressions of the relationships between the number of airborne conidia over rice fields and the disease index on the preceding day's temperature at 8:00 p.m., RH, sunshine hours and minimum temperature were built respectively. The transformed values of the number of airborne conidia over rice fields and the number of adhering conidia on leaves were obtained, and the adhesion coefficient of the conidia on unit leaf area in each rice growth stage and the adhension ratio on leaves of each rank were determined. Finally, a mathematical model was established based on the information of the leaf area
