Somatostatin-containing nerves in the alimentary canal of the domestic duck. A preliminary immunocytochemical study

إنجليزي. The somatostatinergic nerve structures of the gastrointestinal tract were studied immunohistochemically in the domestic duck. They were represented by nerve fibres and rate cell bodies which resulted more aboundant in the intestine than in the oesophago-gastric complex, the duodenum and caecum being the most innervated segments. Immunoreactive structures were mainly localized in the submucus plexus. The distribution of neuronal somatostatin in the gastrointestinal tract of the duck is similar to that described immunohistochemically in the same apparatus of various mammals. On the basis, the functional roles played by somatostatin in the digestive apparatus of mammals could be extended to the duck. Such functions are the inhibition of the intestinal contraction, regulation of the relaxation phase of the peristaltic reflex, enhancement of water and electrolyte absorptions and, finally, the regulation of mucosal secretions

إيطالي. Sono state studiate le strutture nervose somatostatinergiche dell'apparato gastroenterico di anatra con metodica immunoistochimica. La somatostatina e' contenuta in fibre nervose e rari corpi cellulari localizzati prevalentemente nell'intestino e nel plesso sottomucoso dei vari organi gastroenterici. Il quadro distributivo generale e' simile a quello descritto con tecniche immunoistochimiche nell'apparato digerente di vari mammiferi. Per tale motivo i ruoli svolti dalla somatostatina nervosa nell'apparato gastroenterico di questi animali vengono qui estesi all'anatra. Tali funzioni sono l'inibizione della contrazione muscolare, la regolazione della peristalsi intestinale e delle secrezioni mucose e, infine, l'accresciuto assorbimento di acqua e di elettroliti
