Risk of introgressive hybridization between fario and marmoratus morphs of Salmo trutta in northeastern Italy [Trentino-Alto Adige, Veneto], as evidenced by mitochondrial DNA analysis

إنجليزي. The two sympatric morphs (fario and marmoratus) of Salmo trutta residing in north eastern Italy hybridize freely and their phylogenetic relatedness is still controversial. By means of restriction analysis, we have observed that 13 hybrids, caught in the Avisio creek (Trento) and Brenta river (Vicenza), bore the marmoratus mitochondrial genotype. Sequencing of the mitochondrial gene coding for the 16S rRNA of fario and marmoratus specimens, coming from the same sites as the hybrids, indicated a 1.4% divergence between the two genotypes and showed that all the fario individuals examined belonged to domesticated strains of Atlantic origin, introduced for the purpose of restocking. The results suggest that hybridization occurs mainly through interbreeding between marmoratus females x fario males crosses and that the fario populations examined were mainly composed by animals of allochthonous origin. These data provide evidence that the present restocking policy endangers the genetic identity of the autochthonous S. trutta populations, owing to introgressive hybridization between wild and domesticated strains

إيطالي. Le due forme simpatriche di Salmo trutta (morpha fario e morpha marmoratus) dell'Italia nord-orientale si ibridano facilmente ed i loro rapporti filogenetici sono tuttora controversi. Tramite analisi di restrizione, abbiamo osservato che 13 ibridi provenienti dal torrente Avisio (Trento) e dal fiume Brenta (Vicenza) erano tutti portatori del genotipo mitocondriale di marmoratus. La sequenza del gene mitocondriale codificante per il 16S rRNA di campioni di fario e di marmoratus, provenienti dagli stessi siti, ha evidenziato una divergenza tra i due genotipi pari all'1.4%, e ha consentito di stabilire che tutti i soggetti di fario esaminati appartenevano a ceppi allevati di origine nordeuropea, introdotti a scopo di ripopolamento. I risultati ottenuti suggeriscono che le ibridazioni avvengano preferibilmente per accoppiamento di femmine di marmoratus con maschi di fario e che le popolazioni di fario dei siti esaminati siano costituite prevalentemente da animali di origine alloctona. Questi dati sottolineano come l'attuale politica di ripopolamento metta in pericolo l'integrita' genetica delle popolazioni autoctone di S. trutta a causa dell'instaurarsi di un processo di ibridazione introgressiva tra ceppi selvatici e di allevamento
