The recurrence probability of agricultural drought spells in Ankara province [Hordeum vulgare, Turkey]
1993
Okman, C. (Ankara Univ. (Turkey). Fac. of Agriculture)
The purpose of this study was to determine the probability of the recurrence of agricultural drought spells in Ankara province, using the records of 60 rainfall stations. These stations were grouped into hydrologically homogeneous areas, and then the rainfall stations with the longest rainfall records were selected to represent each area. Only rainfall contributing to crop use was taken into account. The probability of recurrence of agricultural drought spells was calculated by using Weibull's equation, and from the frequency graphs of drought days the expected drought spells were obtained. Taking a 75 probability level, the number of agricultural drought days in each year for the months March to August were 26,26,27,27,30 and 30 days, respectively
