Applicability of nonlinear statistical models was investigated in allometric growth. The three single-trait models describe growth of only one body part, whereas the multi-trait models describe two or more body pens simultaneously. The single-trait as well as multitrait models contain a basic model, a model standardized to the common residual variance, and a model on the logarithmic scale. Hypothesis testing was based on a pair of multi-trait models. The pair contained a model with distinct parameters for growth rate (k1i and k2i) and a model for isometric growth with equal k1 and k2. Because the standard error depend on the mean, the allometric growth is favorably described by a pair of models on the logarithmic scale
