In the final phase of fattening of Friesian bulls with grass silage ad libitum and hay in two procedures at 12 bulls two different as to composition but isocalorifically equal feeding mixtures were studied. In the first mixture the basic composition was maize while in the second it was barley. The final stage of fattening lasted from average body mass 412kg to final 604kg. Detergent fibres and in vitro digestibility of fodder and of average consumed meal were analysed. Average daily gain of body mass was 1329g in the group with barley and 1300g in the group with maize, slaughter percentage was 54.71% and 53.69%, respectively
