The barbatella district [Friuli-Venezia Giulia]

The purpose of this study is to describe a district - the Barbatella of Rauscedo - in terms of its historical development over the last 70 years and the present structure of its enterprises and their interrelationships. The general implications of the study are discussed in the conclusion, such as the spatial aspects, the economic and social context, the nature of economies of scale that are present. On this basis, the usefulness of the "district" as an analytical category for the agricultural as well as the industrial sector is discussed. In the Author's opinion, there are elements of the analysis that can lead to some interesting generalizations. These regard advantages presented by spatial factors; relations between agricultural districts and controlled origin production areas; estimates of efficiency of a system of small farms; ties between agriculture and the local economy; the specific nature of agricultural districts as compared to industrial districts

[Lo scopo di questo studio e' di descrivere un distretto produttivo - La Barbatella di Rauscedo - dal punto di vista dello sviluppo storico nel corso degli ultimi 70 anni e della struttura attuale delle sue imprese e dei loro rapporti. Nelle conclusioni sono discusse le implicazioni generali dello studio, come gli aspetti spaziali, il contesto sociale ed economico, la natura delle economie di scala presenti. Su questa base, viene discussa l'utilita' del distretto come categoria analitica sia per il settore agricolo che per quello industriale. Secondo l'Autore, ci sono elementi dell'analisi che possono portare ad interessanti generalizzazioni. Questi riguardano vantaggi presentati da fattori spaziali; rapporti tra distretti agricoli e zone di produzione a origine controllata; stime dell'efficienza di un sistema di piccole aziende agricole; legami tra l'agricoltura e l'economia locale; la natura specifica dei distretti agricoli paragonati ai distretti industriali]
