Effect of vegetative stages on NDF ruminal degradability in grasses

إنجليزي. Three ruminal cannulated heifers were used to measure ruminal ADF and NDF degradability of four forages in three vegetative stages (early, middle and late). Two varieties of Lolium multiflorum (var. Barspectra and Barmultra), Triticum secale var. Mizar, maize stalk, and leaves were used. Forages were grown in plots similar in terms of soil and fertilization. Five maize plants were collected whole and then leaves, maize and stalk were separated. The degradability of the fibrous components of these forages was determined by the nylon-bag technique (40 microns pore size) at 2, 4, 8, 16, 24, 48 and 72 hours of rumen incubation. Higher correlation coefficients were found between NDF degradability and ADF for Lolium varieties. However, the NDF/ADF ratios seemed more important in Triticum secale and maize stalk than NDF content (+0.94 and +0.74) for NDF rumen degradability. At the late life stage considered in this experiment, the maize stalk highlighted the highest NDF degradation (b = 11.16) which is 22% higher (P lower than 0.05) than Lolium multiflorum (b = 9.11) and 19% higher (P lower than 0.05) than Triticum secale (b = 9.36)

إيطالي. Tre manze dotate di fistola ruminale sono state utilizzate per misurare la degradabilita' ruminale di NDF ed ADF in 4 foraggi di graminacee a tre stadi vegetativi (precoce, medio, tardivo). Sono state utilizzate due varieta' di Lolium multiflorum (var. Barspectra e var. Barmultra), Triticum secale, var. Mizar ed un mais ibrido classe 700. I foraggi sono stati prodotti in parcelle omogenee per terreno e concimazione. Nel caso del mais, si e' proceduto alla raccolta di 5 piante intere sulle quali sono poi stati isolati stocco, foglie e spiga, allo scopo di determinare, separatamente, la degradabilita' delle componenti fibrose. I campioni sono stati incubati per 2, 4, 8, 16, 24, 48 e 72 ore in rumine, secondo la procedura in situ attraverso nylon bag (con porosita' di 40 micron). Alti coefficienti di correlazione sono stati osservati per i loietti tra la degradabilita' ruminale del NDF e il livello di ADF (-0.94). Per il triticale e gli stocchi del mais e' risultato piu' importante il rapporto NDF/ADF nei confronti della degradabilita' del NDF (+0.94 e +0.74)
