Olmos, F. (Instituto Nacional de Investigacion Agropecuaria, Tacuarembo (Uruguay). Estacion Experimental del Norte. Pasturas)
Bromus auleticus is a natural species in Uruguay, however, there have been some problems in trying to domesticate it. This work shows that it needs almost 14 months to be ready for grazing, but after that it produces forage of good quality in the autumn winter period. It tolerates well drought periods as they are common in summer. It is possible to increase its productivity either associated to a legume species (lotus, white clover) or with mineral nitrogen.
