Gives detailed results of a project to enhance the LAMBPLAN software. It defines the importance of growth, fat, wool and reproduction traits in the breeding objectives for dual purpose breeds. Genetic parameters, heritability and genetic correlations have been estimated for these traits for a range of Australian meatsheep breeds. This has provided the basis for development of procedures and computer software to enhance LAMBPLAN to provide estimated breeding values for a greater range of lamb production traits, specifically tailored to the needs of each of the various maternal and dual-purpose breeds. Data from Border Leicester, Hyfer, Corriedale, Poll Dorset, Coopworth, Gromark and Suffolk breeds were used.
