Isoenzyme analysis to distinguish between applied and autochthone strains of Beauveria brongniartii (Sacc.) Petch
1994
Trzebitzky, C. (Forstliche Versuchs und Forschungsanstalt Baden-Wuerttemberg, Freiburg (Germany)) | Loechelt, S.
Isoenzymes of 25 strains of the entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria brongniartii from central Europe were compared electrophoretically on starch gels to determine the origin of recovered isolates from cockchafer control forest plots. There was no variation in banding patterns besides one strain with a unique glutathion reductase band. This strain also differed in colony morphology, germling formation and virulence against Melolontha hippocastani. It was not possible to use isoenzyme analysis for ensuring the establishment of introduced fungal strains in the breeding grounds of the pest population
