There are benefits to deep ripping light land but there needs to be more understanding of the mechanisms involved to be able to predict a consistent response to ripping. Crop species respond differently to changing the planting spacing. The yield of barley and wheat declines as row spacing increases but wider spacings may suit lupins particularly the newer semi-determinant types.
